...out of hibernation!!

it's been a long time.... but here I am again!! It was a busy fall/holiday season and now that we've had a little time to relax, we are back at it again, gearing up for shows starting in May and trying to keep our booth full at the KOUNTRY NOOK ..... whew! I thought this was the slow time of year for us crafters....lol...hasn't been so far!! Not that I'm complaining!!

Since I posted last, things have changed a bit. My middle son and my daughter have both moved back home, so gone is my reclaimed craft room...it's back to my daughter's room for now. So that means a lot of my 'stuff' has been packed away...lord knows where it all is....lol! But, with help of my hubs, we have carved out a little spot for me to paint & create. So, I'll make-do for now!

Have also had a little time to do some web surfing... and have been surprised to find that many of my fave prim sites are no longer...a sign of the times no doubt. I have even had a hard time finding some of my old wholesale suppliers..... guess it's time for a change anyway!

As far as Palmers' Primitives goes, Rick and I have also made some changes, deciding to go with everyday wares and forego the "valentine' and St Pat's Day", etc. We are also adding lots of new wood pieces and trying out some new, lighter colors. Still country, but on the lighter side...gotta get people thinkin' Spring after all!

We will posting some new pics on our FB page in a few days....be sure to check it out!!

Blessings!

...watermelon crawl...

...that's what I feel like doin' today...crawling!!..it's so hot and sticky. Can't paint, can't glue, can't sand!! Guess we can't be crafting every minute of the day...(even though we'd like to!) Went yard salin' this morning and got some really good buys! Got an antique, hand-made (SOLID WOOD) kitchen table and two awesome chairs for less than $10; lots of smalls to paint, a old wooden headboard destined to be a hall bench, and the best find was a $700 stencil maker....for $40!! So, of course I've been playing with that this afternoon...lol!!

And here is a great summer dessert recipe I'd like to share with y'all: Enjoy!
My family loves this refreshing dessert no matter what flavor of pie filling I use (But raspberry is my favorite!)

FROZEN BERRY FLUFF

2 21oz cans raspberry or strawberry pie filling
1 14 oz can sweetened condensed milk
1 8 oz can crushed pineapple, undrained (optional)
1 12 oz carton frozen whipped topping, thawed
Fresh berries and mint (optional)

In a bowl, combine pie filling, milk and pineapple.
fold in whipped topping. Spread into an ungreased
13 x 9 x 2 pan. cover and freeze for about 8 hrs or
overnight.

Remove from the freezer about 15 minutes before
serving. Cut into squares. Garnish each with fresh
berries and mint if desired.

Yield: 12-15 servings

HAPPY FATHERS DAY TO ALL THE DAD'S
OUT THERE...
(to you to Daddy....missing you!)

Just finished looking at the newest Country Sampler Magazine..I always get inspired from that! Have been a bit lazy lately with my crafting, catching up on housework and gardening and even doin' a bit a relaxing. That's something I don't get to do often, so I grab it when it come 'round!
I have to admit, my housework took a back seat when we had our storefront open and I am still finding things that I had forgotten about...lol! (That's why there are still totes of Christmas stuff sitting in my living room...at least that's my story and I'm stickin' to it!)

This year we have put in three good sized veggie gardens. I say 'we', but I must confess that my dear hubby does 99% of the upkeep on them. (keeps him out of trouble, I say!) We will definitely be doing some canning and freezing this year; we have tomatoes, potatoes, carrots, zucchini, corn, summer squash, punkin's, eggplant, okra, all sorts of peppers, hot and not; cucumbers....I can't even remember everything that's been planted! My dill and horseradish and cilantro have gone wild; but the rhubarb wasn't great...
I tried to convince hubby to plant one entire garden for my wildflowers but guess it will take another year to talk him into that. So I must be content with my flowers spread around the yard and will have to go walking, looking for what I need for crafting and arrangements.

oh, yes! back to crafting! The past 3 years we did lots of shows, one almost every weekend.
And, I am happy to say, this year we have scaled back on shows..it's too much to keep up with that many..not enough time to make enough for the next one.. so we are doing a couple of smaller local shows and keeping our best ones, of course. And, so, I must get busy creating!!

Do any of you do craft shows? How did you fair last year and do you think the economy is going to hurt you this year as far as sales? Send me a message on facebook!

Well, gotta get to bed so I can rise and.. well, so I can rise early in the am ( Im not big on shinin'...lol!)
BLESSINGS TO Y'ALL!

About us.....

PALMERS' PRIMS . . . is my hubby Rick and I...

. . . Rick is great at designing; I just give him an idea and he will build it ...

. . . then I get to add the finish touches......

and I get to do my favorite thing of all ....DECORATE with them!!

Rick and I both come from a long line a crafters, learning at our daddys' (and mommas') knee. We have been crafting together now for over 10 years and are still loving it.

. . .We closed our storefront and website (Primitive At Heart) last year due to "not-enough-hours-in-the-day-to-do-what -we-need-to" syndrome. Life has been much simpler since then and hence. much more enjoyable! We now actually have time to enjoy our kids and 10 grandchildren; and actually enjoy each others company ... and crafting is fun again, now that it's not a 'need-to-do" thing!!

We still do several shows a year, but have cut back this year. We were trying to do too many last year...almost every weekend...and the quality of our goods suffered. We also have a booth at the local craft/gift mall. THE KOUNTRY NOOK, in downtown Pekin. We sell retail, wholesale and do special orders. Something you need? Contact us via facebook: Judy Palmersprims! Blessings!
